OnCUE Journal Submission Guidelines
All submissions to OnCUE Journal should be prepared according to APA style and documentation guidelines. For a brief introduction to APA style, please refer to the following short articles:

Prospective OnCUE Journal authors are urged to refer to the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (5th Edition) before submitting their papers.

Prospective authors are recommended to have their papers proofread by at least one other person prior to submission. The JALT Publications Writers Peer Support Group provides free advice to all interested authors.
Non-native speakers of English are strongly recommended to ask a native speaker colleague (particularly a colleague with an understanding of TESOL-related issues) to proofread papers before submission.

Types of Articles Sought:
Features

APA referenced articles with a focus on language education and related issues at the tertiary level (2000-4000 words).
Criteria for feature articles:
- Consideration of issues likely to be perceived as relevant to language teaching in Japan
- Well designed and reported quantitative or qualitative research
- Writing that situates issues within the context of relevant previous work while refraining from quoting for the sake of quoting
- Thought-provoking theoretical pieces provided that clear practical implications are developed.
Research Digest
Contact: Joe Falout
Research Digest articles are perspectives on applying theory to practice in SLA or a related field. The format includes reviews of research studies, analyses or personal reflections of research methodologies, and reviews of resources for teachers and researchers. (Up to 2500 words).
Professional Development

Articles related to continuing education and gaining employment (1000-2000 words).
Opinion and Perspective
Contact: Keith Ford
Opinion and Perspective includes Readers Respond and Right to Reply in the following formats:
- Short opinion pieces
- Perspectives on teaching and learning
- Point-counterpoint
- Responses to any articles in previous issues.
Reviews

Reviews of books, textbooks, videos, and films of educational relevance (600 words/1,500 words for scholarly review essays).
Cyberpipeline

Descriptions of websites or software that might prove useful for language teaching and/or professional development.
Conference Reviews

Reviews of academic conferences or individual presentations. (500 to 1,500 words).
